FOX SWIM CLUB LOCKER ROOM MONITORING POLICY
PURPOSE
The following guidelines are designed to maintain personal privacy as well as to reduce the risk of misconduct in locker rooms and changing areas.
FACILITIES
The following is a description of our practice and competition facilities to allow athletes and their families to plan their use:
We practice at: Health Unlimited Family Fitness & Aquatics Center
This location has: Family changing rooms/restrooms. Swimmers should not be using the facility locker rooms, even if they are members of the facility. Swimmers should come dressed for practice and to change and shower at home. The family changing rooms/restrooms are open to the facility membership as well, but are located on the pool deck.
MONITORING
Coaches and staff make every effort to recognize when an athlete goes to the locker room or changing area during practice and competition and, if they do not return in a timely fashion, we will check on the athlete’s whereabouts.
We discourage parents from entering locker rooms and changing areas unless it is truly necessary. In those instances, it should only be a same‐sex parent. If this is necessary, parents should let the coach or administrator know about this in advance.
If an athlete needs assistance with his or her uniform or gear (for example, a child under the age of eight), or an athlete’s disability warrants assistance, then we ask that parents let the coach or an administrator know beforehand that he or she will be helping the athlete.
We conduct a sweep of the changing areas before athletes arrive, the facilities are visible from the pool deck for monitoring purposes.
USE OF CELL PHONES AND OTHER MOBILE RECORDING DEVICES
Cell phones and other mobile devices with recording capabilities, including voice recording, still cameras and video cameras increase the risk for different forms of misconduct in locker rooms and changing areas. The USA Swimming Athlete Protection Policies prohibit the use of such devices in the locker room or other changing area: 305.3 Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera, is not allowed in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.
MISCONDUCT PROCEDURES
This policy shall be in force for all Fox Swim Club swimmers during practice, during swim meets and at events sponsored by, or in which, Fox Swim Club Team is represented.
Disciplinary actions can range from, but not limited to; being sent home from practice or meets at the parent’s expense, expulsion from the team.
Suspension - Coaches may suspend a swimmer from practice for disciplinary reason for a maximum of 2 weeks. Coaches may also recommend to the club that a swimmer be expelled from the club and club participation.
Safety and Behavior - Fox Swim Club reserves the right to terminate the membership of any individual whose behavior places Fox Swim Club in an unfavorable light or jeopardizes our participation in any pool use or sporting event. All swimmers are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and act appropriate ambassadors for the club. They should act as role models for other swimmers at all times.
